This seminar and tour of CSIRO Materials Science and Engineering starts at 6:15 pm on Wednesday 9th May 2012. The seminar will provide information on degradable and biodegradable plastics in the Australian market and the an insight into biodegradability testing and standards.
Increasing concerns about environmental issues, such as global warming and diminishing landfill availability, and the rising cost of crude oil, is resulting in a huge demand for polymeric materials that are more ecologically sound than oil-derived materials and that can be manufactured from sustainable raw materials. The aim of this seminar is to provide information on such materials and insight into biodegradability testing and standards in an Australian context.
Topics discussed include:
* Degradable and biodegradable plastics in an Australian context
* NATA Accreditation on Biodegradability Testing
* Australasian Bioplastics Association, ABA
