The Packaging and Films Association (PAFA, Nottingham / UK; www.pafa.co.uk) has issued a price warning following increases over the last twelve months of up to 50% in low and high point price differentials for principal packaging polymers including LDPE, LLDPE and PET.
Barry Turner, PAFA CEO designate, said that association members had already absorbed significant cost increases, with subsequent erosion in margins, but now will have to pass them on to their customers with immediate effect. The association said the increases are a direct result of global economic factors including oil price rises.
