Multicomponent injection molding solutions, bundled under the name Multinject, are the main topic on the KraussMaffei booth at CHINAPLAS 2010, Asia`s No. 1 plastics and rubber fair to be held in Shanghai, China.
At CHINAPLAS, KraussMaffei is demonstrating a CX-V 300-2000/380 Multinject machine which will be producing reading lenses with protective covers in an in-mold assembly process. The second injection unit in this medium-clamp-range production cell is positioned vertically. Despite its small footprint, the cell nonetheless provides generous space for installing complex multicomponent moulds. The mold was made available by the Institute of Plastic Technology and Application (IPTA) in Shenzhen. A rotary plate on the moving platen moves the injection molded substrate to the second station. This solution is especially compact, because peripheral equipment can be located underneath the clamp.
The production cell that KraussMaffei is showcasing at the CHINAPLAS can be easily integrated in existing factory logistics. It is well suited for multicomponent molding in the automotive and electronics sectors, two areas that are strongly represented in China.
