SpecialChem - Mar 29, 2012
BASF is going to feature its latest solutions for the plastics industry at NPE 2012 that will help make its customer`s world more sustainable, innovative, durable, colorful and safe.
It will showcase range of its pigments, effect pigments and additives that meet a broad range of functional needs. This includes the just launched Tinuvin® 1600, a high performance UV absorber for transparent outdoor thin section applications. With Tinuvin® 1600, PET films are now a viable alternative for photovoltaics, getting the industry closer to grid parity by making solar energy more cost effective. It can show how to reduce heat generated by dark surfaces, add color to food packaging with FDA compliant colorants, and add sizzle to high-end products and packaging.
BASF will also demonstrate how Ultramid® Structure was instrumental in the design of the smart forvision car`s thermoplastic wheel rim - the first of its kind. It will launch the Ultramid® ENDURE line of plastics, which is a highly heat-resistant family of products that are suitable for replacing metal in automotive engines, helping to reduce weight and cost.
It will also showcase E-por®, the first viscoelastic foam with all the advantages of classical expandable polystyrene and how that can benefit you in the realm of packaging. It will also highlight its biodegradable polymers Ecoflex® and Ecovio®.
Elastollan® thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) serve a broad range of industries - from agriculture or shoe to automotive solutions or construction. Some example applications include new LSZH flame retardant TPU for demanding cable applications, super soft TPU for soft touch applications, conductive TPU for demanding hose and tube applications.
Throughout NPE, BASF will offer specialized seminars at its booth to show how to combine its unique solutions for biodegradable plastics, acoustical foams, laser marking pigments, high speed thermoplastics resins, engineering plastics, pigments & additives, and thermoplastic polyurethanes.
